Virtual Races

Virtual Race Information

The Air Force Marathon has added in a virtual race option this year! Participants from all over the world can now participate in the annual celebration of the founding of the U.S. Air Force from their home! This option is open to everyone for the marathon and half marathon events in which participants must run 26.2 miles or 13.1 miles. See detailed race rules below.

All virtual participants will receive a downloadable race bib and virtual goodie bag. All finishers will receive a race shirt, optional complimentary commemorative patch, and finisher medal once proof of race completion has been received and approved.

Virtual Race Rules

You must complete your virtual race within a single 7 hour time frame between September 12th-27th, 2020. You may run, walk, or run/walk your full distance (13.1 miles or 26.2 miles) wherever you want – around your neighborhood, on a treadmill, or any course of your choosing. Be sure to track your race with Strava, Garmin, Fitbit, or another GPS-tracking app that will confirm your mileage and time.

After your race, email your proof of completion (GPS data) to usaf.marathon@us.af.mil by September 28th, 2020. Once your race has been received and approved, we will mail your race shirt, finisher medal, and optional complimentary commemorative patch to the address you provided during registration. If you need to update this address at any time, you may do so by following these instructions or sending us an email. Virtual participants will not be eligible for awards.

We have Airmen the world over who want to be involved in this incredible annual tradition but due to deployments, TDYs, remote assignments, and a host of other reasons cannot join us. Adding in a virtual option allows them to challenge themselves while taking part in the annual celebration that is the Air Force Marathon.” – Brandon Hough (Race Director, Air Force Marathon)
