This year the Air Force Marathon is extremely excited to introduce the inaugural Fly-Fight-Win Challenge! For a few years now, participants have been asking for an event along these lines, so we have listened and are happy to share the details of how it works!

What is it?

Fly-Fight-Win is the new Air Force Marathon Challenge series for 2018. It includes running the 5K Friday night, the 10K and the Half marathon also Saturday morning.

How does it work?

To register, you will go to our normal registration page at www.usafmarathon.com/registration and you will click on the Challenge Series registration button. You DO NOT need to register for all 3 races separately! In fact, if you do this, you won’t actually be captured as a Challenge Participant. In so registering, you will be assigned to all 3 races, but as a Challenge Participant, which is important in order for you to get all the cool swag only the Challenge runners will receive.

What are the rules?

We have only a few guidelines for this event. The 5K has no time limit (Friday night.) The 10K is Saturday morning, as well as the Half marathon, so here is where the guideline most applies. You MUST be able to run the 10K in one hour. The reason for that is because the Half Marathon begins one hour following the 10K. If you don’t finish the 10K in that amount of time, you will miss your start time for the half marathon. If you don’t get a start/finish time for all 3 of the races, you won’t fall into being a challenge series finisher. Due to how road closures are organized, the Half Marathon cannot be started any later than 8:30, which is why the 10K runners participating in the challenge must be able to do it in one hour in order to start the half marathon.

Why Participate?

Well, here are the top 5 reasons to be a finisher of the Fly-Fight-Win Challenge:

  1. You would be participating in an inaugural event, full of excitement to an already awesome experience.
  2. You will get a shirt for each of the 3 races, and the shirts are going to be fantastic!
  3. Any opportunity to push yourself to a new level is one for personal gain not just physically but emotionally as well. Finishing 3 races in less than 24 hours is a great accomplishment.
  4. All participants get a few swag items unique to only the challenge series runners- a unique dog tag, engraved with the date and the event as well as a mesh string bag that can be used for the gear check (if so desired), but it will show off your involvement with the inaugural event.
  5. The Medal! It’s all about the bling! Any participant who completes the Challenge Series not only will receive a medal for each of the 3 races, but will also receive a 4th Challenge Series Medal. And you do not want to miss out on this medal.

We are really excited to see you participate in the event this year. The registrations for the Challenge Series are limited to only 500 participants, so get in while you can!
