Air Force Marathon Announces Training Clinic for All Distances
Wright-Patterson AFB, OH - The Air Force Marathon will host special training clinics with Dr. Mark Cucuzzella, Air Force Marathon chief medical consultant, April 29 at Wright State University's Endeavor Room.
The Air Force Marathon Training Clinic is open to the public and will include two sessions, one at 5:30 p.m. that will focus on the marathon and half marathon; the second at 6:30 p.m. focusing on the 10K and 5K.
Dr. Cucuzzella will introduce the idea of running as a practice, "Practice is fun as you see more relaxed movement develop, painless efficiency, improved speed, and confidence. Most of us understand you must train if you wish to run well and for greater distances. What is mostly ignored in running is the concept of practice."
Dr. Cucuzzella is a Family Physician at Harpers Ferry Family Medicine and Associate Professor at West Virginia University School of Medicine. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force, he is coach and captain of the Air Force marathon team. Dr. Cucuzzella has been a competitive runner for nearly 30 years, completing over 60 marathons and ultras, and continues to compete as a National level Masters runner.  Dr. Cucuzzella has been an avid supporter and competitor in the Air Force Marathon. He was second in the inaugural event and the overall winner in 2006. He has run the event 6 times, finishing in the top 5 every time.
"If you are training for one of the Air Force Marathon events, striving to improve your health and fitness, or desire to experience less discomfort in your endurance activity, then join us for our April training clinic," Cucuzzella stated.
To register for the event please call 937-257-4350.
The Air Force Marathon presented by Northrop Grumman, USAA and Boeing will be held September 18, 2010 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Other events include a half marathon and 10K to be held on the 18th. Wright State University and the Air Force Marathon will co-host a 5K run on September 17, 2010 at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. The Sports and Fitness Expo will also be held at the Nutter Center on September 16 - 17, 2010. For more information and to register visit www.usafmarathon.com.Â
