RunnersThe United States Air Force Marathon is a runner’s dream with a 26.2-mile run that traverses historical places on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, including the National Museum of the United States Air Force, the Air Force Institute of Technology, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, the Wright-Patterson AFB flight line, Huffman Prairie Flying Field, and the Wright Brothers Memorial Monument.

BEAT THE GATE BY 12:48! The Air Force Marathon is introducing a new “Beat the Gate” campaign for 2010. All full Marathon runners must be at or have passed the gate at Mile 21 by 12:48 pm. Runners must maintain a 16:00 pace to reach this point in 5 hours and 33 minutes. Hydration StationBusses will be provided at this time to transport those who did not “beat the gate” back to the Start/Finish Line area. The entire full marathon course closes at 2:15 pm.

The 7 hour closed course includes Hydration Stations approximately every mile. Stations will serve water, energy gel, electrolytes and fruit. There will also be 9 medical stations strategically placed throughout the course, including at the finish line.

Wheeled Division WinnerMarathon Wheeled Division

The Full Marathon race includes a wheeled division for participants in both push-rim and hand-crank wheelchairs. Registration is available for these specific Marathon divisions and awards will be presented to the first, second and third place man and woman in both the push-rim and hand-crank categories.

Wheeled participants must select the wheeled marathon race upon registration.

 

Athletes with a Visual Impairment

The Full Marathon includes an Athletes with Visual Impairment Division with awards being presented to the first, second, and third place man and woman.  To qualify, participants need medical documentation for disability classification, as explained by these organizations: International Paralympics Committee, International Sports Federation and United States Track and Field.  The guide's registration fee is waived when registering through the PDF form link below.  Guides will receive the same items as regular participants. Preferred Starting Position/Seeded Numbers

RunnerIf you have completed a marathon since January 1, 2008 in a time faster than listed below and submit proof (copy of race results certificate, copy of finishers postcard, printout of online race results, or copy of newspaper race results) of your time to the Air Force Marathon office. Proof must be by August 15, 2010 (postmarked), you will be considered for a preferred starting position/seeded number.

Preferred starting positions are limited and not guaranteed. To enter the USAF Marathon with preferred starting position, you must submit a qualifying time from a full marathon event (26.2 miles) only. Events of other lengths will not be considered. If you are selected for Preferred Starting position you will receive your bib in the race packet at the Expo.

  • RunnersMen - 3:10:00
  • Women - 3:45:00

If you completed the 2008 or 2009 USAF Marathon in a time that qualifies for a preferred starting position, you must select preferred race on entry form or in specific area online to be considered. (No proof required)
